Microsoft has introduced two interesting and very useful features in Windows 8. Refresh PC and Reset PC are the two new features that help you solve all Windows problems by updating settings or resetting everything. These features allow you to set Windows 8 settings to default values or restore Windows 8 factory settings (original settings) by removing installed applications and data.
If you’re unfamiliar with these features, Refresh PC lets you reset all Windows settings to their default values without deleting documents, music, and other files, and Reset PC reinstalls Windows and erases everything, including your files.
The only problem is that you might be prompted to insert Windows installation or recovery media during the PC update or restore operation. When launching the Repair or Update PC function, you may see the message “Insert Media: Some files are missing. Your Windows installation or recovery media will provide these files. ‘
While most of us have Windows 8 installation media, it is always a good idea to make any necessary changes to the default settings so that you can reset Windows 8 without inserting installation or recovery media.
