According to new research from IDC, computer sales in the third quarter of 2022 fell 15% year-over-year.
For example, Lenovo shipments decreased by 16.1%, and HP and Dell – by 27.8 and 21.2%, respectively. But the most surprising thing is that Apple has decent growth: +40.2% compared to the third quarter of 2021.

The market share increased from 8.2% to 13.5%. In terms of units, Apple sold 10.06 million Macs this year and 7.17 million last year.
This increase is likely due to the announcement of the new MacBook Air with the Apple M2 system-on-a-chip this summer. Still, last year there were no hardware announcements in the third quarter – the new MacBook Pro was shown only in the fall of 2021.
