According to Ross Young, an analyst and founder of Display Supply Chain Consultants, Apple is still undecided on display diagonal of the future iPhone SE 4.
The company is considering several options:
- 6.1-inch OLED display;
- 5.7″ IPS display;
- 6.1 inch IPS display.
IPS-display, of course, is cheaper, and SE is about everything cheap, except for the system-on-a-chip. But Apple may have received a good offer from one of its OLED panel partners and is now looking into it. Apple may increase the price of the new SE.
The new smartphone will receive a “notch regardless of the selected display size.” Whether it will have a Face ID is unknown.
Ross Young says the new iPhone will be shown in 2024. Jon Prosser previously reported that the smartphone will be shown in 2023.
Most likely, Prosser is wrong: the second SE was released in 2020, and the third in 2022. Apple updates the series every two years, so the new product should be expected in 2024. Hence the uncertainty with the diagonal and the type of matrix – the release is still far away.
