Difference between standard users and Windows 10 administrator accounts

Did you have a question in mind what is the difference between standard user and administrator user accounts in Windows 10? Microsoft offers two types of user accounts User accounts standard and administrator on all Windows operating systems. Both user accounts have different meanings and roles, like

  • The administrator account is for the user who wants to acquire full control over the computer and gain full access.
  • A standard user account It is for those users who need to run multiple programs on the computer, but need limited or restricted administrative access to the computer.

When you install the latest version of Windows 10, three user accounts are created by default on your computer: the administrator, the initial user, and the guest account. However, in the initial stage, both the administrator and guest accounts remain inactive and the initial account is where the user goes through the entire installation process.

Windows cannot connect to the printer

Before applying anything, sometimes turning the printer off and on can solve the problem. Turn off the printer and unplug it, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in, and then turn it on again.

Restart the spooler service

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc and ok to open the service console,
  • Scroll down and find the spooler service,
  • Right click on the print queue and select restart
  • If the service did not start, right click on the print queue selection properties,
  • Change the autostart type and start the service next to the service status.
  • Click OK and apply to save the changes.
  • Now try connecting to the network printer.

Copy mscms.dll manually

Copy manually the file mscms.dll to the driver installation folder It is the best working solution to solve this problem. As we discussed, the main reason for this Windows cannot connect to the printer error Mscms.dll file. This mscms.dll is a color module that may not reach its destination folder. You can copy this Mscms.dll file manually to fix this problem.

  • Navigate to the following folder: C: Windows system32
  • I searched mscms.dll in the above directory and right click and then select copy.

If you have installed a 32-bit Windows , navigate to the following folder and paste the previously copied mscms.dll file:

C: windows system32 spool drivers w32x86 3

And, if you have a 64-bit Windows installed, navigate to the following folder and paste the previously copied file into it:

C: windows system32 spool drivers x64 3

Restart your Windows computer to save the changes and try connecting to the remote printer again. If it doesn’t connect, add the printer again and try.

Create a new local port

  • Control panel open,
  • Find and select devices and printers
  • Click Add a printer in the top menu.
  • Windows will search for available shared printers on the local network.
  • If you don’t see your printer listed, click the link that says “ The printer I want is not on the list. «
  • Here On the next screen, select » Add a local printer or network printer with manual configuration »And click Next.

Please select Create a new port

Then from the port type drop down select TCP / IP port Standrd and click Next.

Here type the address of the printer in the Printers Port Name field in the following format:

IP address or computer name Printer name

For instance 192.168.1.50 HP LaserJet Pro M1136

Note: Enter the IP address or name of the computer where the shared printer is physically installed. For the network, the printer enters the IP address of the printer.

If you do not know the IP address of the computer from which the printer is physically connected and from which it is shared,

  • Press Windows + R, type cmd and ok
  • Now type ipconfig and hit the Enter key.
  • Find the IPv4 address for the computer’s IP in the black window.

  • Now click OK and then Next.
  • Please select its printer model from the directory to install your drivers, click Next .
  • If you have a disc, insert the disc, click “Have Disk” and find the location of the driver on the disk.
  • Click on To accept . Scribe a name for your new printer.
  • Click on Next . Print a test page to verify your connection. And click Finish.

Remove incompatible printer drivers

Sometimes the problem may be caused by incompatible printer drivers. Also, installing an older printer can prevent the print queue from adding new printers. So you can try removing these outdated drivers and reinstalling them.

  • Press Windows + R, type printmanagement.msc, and hit the Enter key.
  • This will open the print management, here In the left pane, click All controllers.
  • Now in the right window pane, right click on the printer driver and click Delete.
  • If you see more than one printer driver name, repeat the steps above.
  • Then restart Windows and try again to add the printer and install its drivers.

Tweak the Windows registry

  • First of all, stop the spooler service from the service console,
  • Now press Windows + R, type regedit and ok to open the registry editor,
  • Back up the registry database and navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM ControlSet001 Control Print Printers * NAME OF YOUR PRINTER * CopyFiles

Remove the folder «ICM» which is under the folder «CopyFiles» . Then close the registry editor and restart Windows for the changes you have made to take effect. Now try to connect to the printer again, see the problem fixed this time.

If the first option was not fixed, here is another registry setting, first open Windows services and stop the spooler service. Then navigate to the fallow key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows NT CurrentVersion Print Providers Client-side rendering Print provider

Here right click on Client-side rendering print provider and select Remove. again, start the Printer Spooler service and restart your PC to save the changes.
