European parliamentarians accepted a law banning the sale of new gasoline and diesel vehicles from 2035. This also applies to hybrids, as the law clearly states that automakers must achieve a 100% reduction in carbon emissions.
The transition will be phased. For example, from 2030, new cars and trucks should cut carbon emissions by 55% and 50%, respectively!
The law does not apply to automakers producing less than a thousand cars a year. Well, that is, conditional Bugatti can be with internal combustion engines and after 2035. There will also be some benefits for companies that produce up to 10,000 cars and 22,000 trucks.
For many companies, the law looks like a formality that only confirms their plans. Volkswagen and Audi, for example, have promised to end production of ICE vehicles by 2033. However, Renault is not happy with this approach: the company would like the ban to begin only from 2040.
