When you open Facebook in your browser, it shows the message Facebook connection error Please try again on your iPhone, iPad or Android devices. This could also happen in the Facebook mobile app with a different error message: Facebook network cannot connect error, tap to try again.
This post will explain what this error actually means, why it is occurring, and what you can do to fix the problem.
Facebook connection error Please try again
Check your internet network connection
Whether you are using a WiFi or mobile data connection, make sure the network is stable and has enough signal to receive data. This is usually the case when you see the Facebook connection error try again on the screen.
If you are in an area where you get a low network signal, even if you can load minimal things like Google Search, Facebook.com may appear to show the Facebook connection error message please try again. It’s because Facebook has so much more that your phone needs to load than other simple web pages like google.com. This is especially true for Facebook connection error when opening images or photos.
Well, there is not much you can do if the network signal is low other than to move to a better signal area. Try switching from WiFi to mobile data or vice versa and see if it works to fix the problem, if you can’t move now.
Clear your browser’s caches and cookies
If you keep seeing the Facebook connection error, try the screen again despite making sure your connection is strong enough and all other web pages can load fine, you can try clearing your browser’s cache, either your main browser like Safari, Google Chrome or other default mobile browsers.
The ways to clear the browsing cache differ from device to device. Therefore, I cannot describe all the methods to clear browsing caches for all browsers in the world. The button to clear the cache can usually be found in Settings or Options. It should show up as Clear browsing data, clear browsing history, or other similar options.
As for Chrome on most Android devices, you can clear browsing caches and cookies by going to Setting > Privacy > Clear browsing data in the Chrome app. Close the Google Chrome app and reopen it. Please retry opening Facebook.com again and see if the Facebook connection error .
Facebook can’t connect Tap to retry Repair
If you get that Facebook cannot connect Tap to retry the screen in the Facebook app for iPhone or Android, you can try clearing the Facebook app cache and data or just reinstall the app. Also, make sure the Facebook app is up to date so that it connects to the correct Facebook server.
Before doing this, make sure the problem is not caused by a weak network connection. If you are sure that you have a stable internet connection and still cannot connect, Facebook cannot connect. Tap to try again, reinstall the facebook app .
There may be settings or caches that cause the Facebook app to misbehave and not work. A reinstall of the application should fix the problem. Please note that reinstalling will erase your login details for your Facebook application. You will need to log into your account again after reinstalling the Facebook app.
Security, antivirus or firewall program
If you have a security application such as an Antivirus or Firewall program installed to protect your iPhone or Android devices, it may be blocking your browser or Facebook application and restricting any connection to or from these applications, therefore showing a Facebook connection error try again or Facebook cannot connect, touch to retry screen.
Check your security app and see if your browser or Facebook app has been blocked. Unlock them or add them to the exceptional list when necessary.
A side note for those of you who keep trying other solutions. This particular Facebook connection error is not related to your account at all. Therefore, please do not troubleshoot or fiddle with your Facebook account trying to fix the connection error. It is simply a connection error.
In most cases, the Facebook connection error problem try again can be solved simply by switching to another network connection or allowing permissions for the Facebook application receive or send data in your security app (especially Xiaomi Mi OS series which generally restricts apps from using mobile data or WiFi connection by default).
In some rare cases where your area has blocked access to Facebook, you can try changing DNS to Google or Cloudflare DNS on your Android or iPhone.
