Do you want to import photos from iPhone to Windows 10 or Windows 8 PC? Check out these three methods to quickly transfer photos from iPhone to PC.
Apple’s iPhone is still one of the best smartphones out there and it sells quite well despite stiff competition from Samsung, HTC, Sony, and other smartphone makers. We all use our iPhones to capture memorable moments and we would like to keep a backup of the photos on our PCs.
If you own an iPhone / iPad and want to transfer your photos from iPhone to Windows 10 / 8.1 PC or tablet, you can do it with just a few clicks or taps.
The native Photos app in Windows 10 or Windows 8.1 not only allows you to view images, but also allows you to import images from smartphones and digital cameras. In this guide, we will show you how to safely transfer photos from your iPhone to your Windows 10 or Windows 8.1 PC without the need for iTunes or other third-party tools.
Import photos from iPhone to Windows 10 PC
Step 1: Connect your iPhone to a Windows 10 PC using the cable that came with your iPhone.
Step 2: Once connected, you should see the following screen on your iPhone with the message “Allow this device to access photos and videos.” Tap let.
Step 3: Start the built-in Photos app. If the Photos app won’t open for some reason, see our guide on how to reinstall the Photos app to fix the problem.
Step 4: After launching the Photos app, click to import option located at the top right of the Photos app.
The Photos app will now search for all the videos and photos on your iPhone.
NOTE: If the Photos app doesn’t recognize your iPhone, check out the solutions in our Windows 10 Photos app doesn’t recognize iPhone article.
Step 5: You will then see Select items to import from the Apple iPhone dialog. Select the photos and videos you want to import to your Windows 10 PC. By default, the Photos application selects all the images and videos. Then just deselect the photos and videos you don’t want to import.
Step 6: Click on the Keep it up button.
Step 7: You should now receive the message “Start import?” screen. By default, all imported photos and videos are saved to your OneDrive account (if you have one), but you can change the location by clicking Change where they are imported link and then selecting a different location.
Step 8: Finally, click on to import to start importing selected images and videos. Once done, you will see the notification on your desktop “Photos finished importing photos.” That is all!
Import photos from iPhone to Windows 8.1
Step 1: Connect your iPhone to PC using the connection cable provided by Apple. Check your iPhone screen now. You may see a notification with the Trust option. Top Trust option to continue.
Step 2: The moment Windows recognizes your iPhone, you will see a toast notification at the top right of the screen, asking Tap to choose what happens with this device.
And if this notification does not appear on the screen, it is because you deactivated the toast notification function or activated the option Hide notification for 1, 4 or 8 hours. In this case, you can follow the instructions in Method 2 to import the photos from your iPhone.
Step 3: Click or tap the notification to see three options: Import photos and videos, Open device to view files, and Take no action.
Click or tap Import photos and videos option. This action will open all the photos on your iPhone in the Windows 8 Photos app.
Step 4: Select the photos and videos you want to import, then click or tap the file to import to start copying all the pictures from your iPhone to PC.
Step 5: After the Photos app has completed its task, you will see an option to open the folder and view the imported photos. You can also close the Photos app if you want to view the imported photos later.
All imported photos are saved in the image library. To open the Pictures library, open Computer (File Explorer) or any other folder, then click the Pictures option located in the left pane. Good luck!
Another way to import pictures from iPhone to Windows 8/10
Use this method if you have already connected your iPhone to a Windows 8 PC.
If this is your first time connecting iPhone to PC, you may get a notification on your iPhone with Trust option. Touch the Trust button to continue.
Step 1: Go to the Home screen, click or tap the Photos app tile to launch the app. If it’s not there, use search to launch the Photos app.
Step 2: Right click anywhere in the Photos app to view to import option in the lower right corner of the screen.
Step 3: Click or tap the file to import to see a list of all devices connected to the PC. You should now see your iPhone listed.
Step 4: Click or tap your iPhone entry, select the photos and videos you want to import, then click or tap the file to import to start transferring selected photos and videos to your PC.
The Photos app saves all imported photos in the Pictures library. You can view all the imported photos with the Photos app, Windows Photo Viewer, or any other program.
