    Clear browser cache

    The accumulated cache and browsing history can also cause your Edge browser (and any other browser) to run slowly. If Microsoft Edge opens but stops working, you can clear your browsing history and cache data to fix the problem.

    • Launch Microsoft Edge. Click on the three-dot button in the upper right corner.
    • Click History and then click Delete history .

    Next Select all the boxes and click Delete .

    Run the troubleshooter

    Run the Windows Store app’s built-in troubleshooter that automatically detects and fixes problems with the Microsoft Edge browser.

    • Open Settings app with Windows + I keyboard shortcut,
    • Click Update & Security, then fix the issues in the left pane,
    • Now scroll down and locate the Windows Store
    • Select the Windows Store apps and then click run the troubleshooter,
    • This will begin to diagnose and fix problems that make the Edge browser work normally.
    • Once the diagnostic process is complete, restart your PC and check if the Edge browser works normally.

    Reset Microsoft Edge to default

    If you can’t open Microsoft Edge after an update, or Microsoft edge closes after opening, the application files are probably corrupted and preventing the Edge browser from running. Resetting the browser to its default state will probably help to fix the problem.

    • Press Windows keyboard shortcut + X and select settings,
    • Then click on apps than apps and features,
    • Scroll down and locate Microsoft Edge, click on it,
    • Then click on the Advanced options link,

    Here you will get the option to repair or reset the browser,

    Note : App repair won’t affect anything, but Reset will remove all your browser data. Think before clicking Reset.

  • Click on the repair button first, then open the edge browser and check if this works normally.
  • If Repair doesn’t help, repeat the steps above and click Reset.
  • Repair corrupt system files

    Find cmd Right click Symbol of the system and choose Execute as an administrator . Now run the following command lines one by one, press Enter key to run the command.

    • DISM.exe / Online / Image Cleanup / Restorehealth
    • SFC / scannow

    Note: the scanning process will take some time to complete the scanning and repair process, please wait until the process is 100% complete.

    Reinstall the Edge browser

    Still, the problem was not solved, Edge browser is unresponsive or Microsoft Edge closes after a few seconds. Here the effective solution works for most Windows 10 users.

    • Look for PowerShell,
    • Right click on PowerShell and select Run as administrator,
    • When the PowerShell prompt opens, type the following command and press the Enter key to run the same.

    Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$ ($ _. InstallLocation) AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}

    Once the command is executed, restart your PC and check if there are no more problems with the Edge browser.

    Create a new user account

    Creating a new user account will generate a new edge browser profile and with a new edge profile it will run without any problems.

    • To create a user account in Windows 10, just open the command prompt as an administrator.
    • Then type below the command and hit the Enter key to create a new user account.

    net user% usre name %% password% / add

    Note:% user name% changes your newly created username.
    % password%: enter the password for your newly created user account.
    Ex: net user admin p @ ss / add

    You will receive an output message that the command completed successfully. That means user account created successfully. Now log out of the current user account and log in with the new created user account. Open the Edge browser check working normally without any problem, not responding, etc.

    Adjust registry settings permissions

    Press Windows + R type regedit and press the Enter key.

  • Here right click on the folder named » microsoft.microsoftedge_8wekyb3d8bbwe »In the left pane and click Permission.
  • Select the third unknown account (S-1-15-3-3624051433…).
  • You will see that only the read permission is selected. Let’s check “All permissions”.
  • Click OK and close the window.
  • Now restart Windows to save the changes and check that the Edge browser works fine.
  • To quickly turn off your Windows 10 / 8.1 touch device, you can create a Slide to Power off shortcut on your desktop. If you want permanent access to the feature, you can create a shortcut or pin the slidetoshutdown.exe file to the Start menu or the Taskbar.

    Create slide shortcut to shutdown

    • To create a Swipe to Close shortcut, right-click on your Windows desktop
    • Select New and then Shortcut
    • Now in the Create Shortcut wizard that opens.

    • In the Enter the location of the item field, type % windir% System32 SlideToShutDown.exe

    • Click Next
    • Give the shortcut a name: SlideToShutDown,
    • and click Finish.

    • Now select the shortcut, right click on it and select properties
    • Click Change Icon, select the appropriate icon for this.

    • Now when you want to turn off your tablet or touch device, click / tap this icon.
    • The lock screen will scroll to the middle of the screen and stay there.
    • Drag it to the bottom edge of the screen and your computer will shut down.

    Tablet users especially may find this feature more useful, if you create your shortcut on the desktop or pin it to your taskbar. The Slide to Power Off function can also be used with the mouse, you can drag the overlay down with the mouse pointer.

    Trick 2 to slide to the off function

    • Open File Explorer and then navigate C: windows system32
    • There you will find the file slidetoshutdown.exe .
    • Right click to pin it to Start or Taskbar
    • You can drag the slidetoshutdown.exe file to the desktop while holding down the Alt key.
    • This will create a shortcut on the desktop.
    • Double click the shortcut icon to access the slide-to-shutdown function.
