An independent repair shop has published a brief review of the new iPhone 14. The repairability of the smartphone was rated seven out of ten, the highest rating since the iPhone 7.
The first thing iFixit praised was the removable back cover. Now, to replace the battery in a smartphone, you do not need to disassemble the entire device. The designs of the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are identical. They consist of a display, a frame with most of the internal components, and a glass back panel.
The cover is held on by two screws, glue, and a connector. The same components hold on the display, but the adhesive is stronger.
Apple’s help documentation says software calibration is required after replacing the back panel. It is not clear what will happen without calibration. It is possible that a warning will be displayed in the settings that the smartphone was repaired in an unauthorized service, and the spare part may be non-original.
An analysis of the iPhone 14 that appeared on the network earlier confirmed the presence of a Qualcomm X65 5G modem capable of speeds up to 10 Gb / s. Also, the “firmware” received 6 GB of LPDDR5 RAM.
A complete analysis of the iPhone 14 and the Pro versions in iFixit was promised to be published later. I wonder how the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will score.
