Introduced the main processor of mid-budget smartphones – Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2. What is interesting

Qualcomm introduced Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, a next-generation SoC for sub-flagships and high-end mid-range devices. It received a significant increase in performance compared to its predecessor, while becoming more economical. The manufacturing process is 4 nm.

The cores in Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 are arranged according to the 1 + 3 + 4 scheme – the most productive core has a clock speed of 2.91 GHz. According to official data, the increase in processor performance is 50%. At the same time, graphics performance is even 2 times higher, but the company did not disclose which specific Adreno video accelerator is installed in Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2. The neural block also works twice as fast, becoming 40% more economical.

The new chipset will allow mid-budget devices to use components previously available only to flagships: for example, a 200-megapixel camera. At the same time, the 18-bit digital signal processor will cope with gluing 30 shots into one (useful for night shooting) and recording HDR video based on triple exposure from two cameras at the same time.

The first device with Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 should be presented in March.
