In total, 493 thousand consoles were sold in Europe – excluding Germany and the UK, which were not included in the report.
The PS5 was the top-selling console in January, while Switch and Xbox sales dropped 11% and 32% respectively.
Game sales fell 19% year-over-year. Analysts attribute this to the lack of a major release: in January 2022, Pokémon Legends: Arceus was released, which sold very well.
Top-selling games in Europe for January include FIFA 23, GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and God of War Ragnarök.
And here is another interesting report: PS5 sales at MTS grew by 40% (compared to 2022) due to the release of Hogwarts Legacy. Traffic from Harry Potter-themed forums has grown sixfold.
