A group of scientists from the University of Chicago presented an unusual smartwatch that runs on water and oats.
The clock is powered by slime mold that is produced in oats. You can’t skip watering. Otherwise, the clock will stop working.
The goal of the scientists was not to create watches that run on oats and water but to test the responsibility of users. A Tamagotchi on the wrist needs to be “fed.”
The test was successful. The scientists noted that users were attached to accessories and even gave them names. Perhaps if every gadget had to be monitored so closely, then the amount of e-waste and the constant change of devices would decrease.
