- Then allow Windows to automatically find and update that driver by selecting Search automatically for updated driver software.
Reinstall the USB device driver
If updating the USB driver did not fix the problem, try reinstalling the USB device driver by following the steps below.
- Again open the device manager,
- Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers
- find the unknown device, right click and select uninstall.
- Confirm by checking the box labeled Delete the driver software for this device.

- Here uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power .
- Click OK to save the changes.
Note: If you have more USB root hubs, you need to repeat this operation a couple of times.
Change USB Selective Suspend Settings
Also changing the USB selective suspend setting in the power options will help to fix USB Device Unrecognized Error on Windows 10 computer.
- Press Windows key + type R powercfg.cpl and ok to open the Power Options window.
- Click on Change plan settings in your currently selected power plan,
- Then click Change advanced power settings.

- Find and select power options,

Registry Adjustment to Fix Device Not Recognized Error
If all the above methods do not fix the USB device not recognized error, then we need to do some advanced settings to fix this problem.
- Connect the problem device first, then open Device Manager
- Now expand universal serial bus controllers
- Right click on the yellow triangle marked as USB device causing the problem and select properties.
- In the Device property, go to the Details tab.
- Then, from the Property drop-down menu, select Device Instance Path.
- And in the Value section, highlight the value and right click on it, select Copy.
For example: as shown below, my device instance path is USB VID_054C and PID_05BA CB00000000005C.
Tweak in Windows registry editor
After copying the device instance path, open the Windows registry editor
Press Windows + R, type regedit and ok
Then navigate to the next key.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Enum < Device instance path > Device parameters
Note Route of the device instance: USB VID_054C and PID_05BA CB00000000005C (The option highlighted is Device Instance Path). The device instance path may be different.
So for me the log path is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Enum USB VID_054C & PID_05BA Device parameters.
- Here select the registry key of Device Parameters
- In the middle pane, right-click New> DWORD Value and name it EnhancedPowerManagementEnabled .
- Again, double click on it and the value field set 0.
- click OK and close Registry Editor.
- Now remove the USB stick and just restart the windows.
- The next time you connect the device, this will work without any error.
