Enable guest account in Windows 10

You can enable the guest account through local users and groups, from the user account control, using group policy or you can use the command prompt to enable the guest account If you are a Windows Home Basic user, try to enable the guest account through the command prompt because local user and groups, user account control, and group policy option are not available in this edition.

Note: The following steps are applicable to all Windows 10, 8.1, and Windows 7 computers.

Enable guest account through local users and groups

On the Start menu or in the search box on the taskbar, type Lusrmgr.msc and then press the Enter key to open Local Users and Groups.

Here on the left side, under Local (local) Users and Groups, click Users. Then in the middle pane, double click on Users to see all user accounts on your Windows 10 PC. Now right click on Guest and then click on Properties or double click on Guest to open its properties .

To enable the Guest account, on the General tab, uncheck the option titled Account disabled. In the full name field, enter a name for the account if you want to have a different name for the account and then click the Apply button to enable the guest account.

To log in or switch to the Guest account, click on your user account name in the Start menu (top left of Start) and then click on the Guest account to change the account.

Enable Guest Account Using User Account Control

Again, you can enable the guest account from the user account controls First press Windows + R, type netplwiz and hit the Enter key. User accounts will be opened. Click Add, here Add User Account Windows Enter username as my guest, set account password, re-enter password, and enter password Hind as shown in the picture below.

Click Next now, you will see The next user will be able to sing on this PC, click finish. Now select the My Guest Account window in the user account control as shown in the image below. Click properties in the properties window of my guest. The three options are: Standard Use, Administrator, and Other. Click Other and select Guests. Click Apply. This user account behaves like a guest account.

Enable guest account via command prompt

If you are Windows Home Basic Users then this is the most applicable way to enable guest account for your windows. Frist Open command prompt as administrator. To do this, type CMD in the Start menu or in the search box on the taskbar to see Command Prompt in the search results, right-click the Command Prompt entry, and then click Run as administrator option.

Here in the overhead prompt, type the following command and then hit the Enter key to run the command.
guest / active net user: yes

Enable Guest Account in Windows 10 via Group Policy

Note that Group Policy is not part of the Home edition of Windows 10. Therefore, this method does not work in Windows 10 Home Edition.

First open the Group Policy Editor by typing Edit Group Policy in the Start search box or taskbar and then pressing the Enter key. Click Yes if and when you see the UAC message. Now in Group Policy Editor, navigate to the following policy:

Computer Configuration> Windows Settings> Security Settings> Local Policies> Security Options.

Here on the right hand side, find the policy called Accounts. Guest account status and double-click it to open its properties.

Select the Enabled option and then click the Apply button to activate the Guest account in Windows 10.
