Volvo has announced the EX90. The electric crossover, the successor to the flagship XC90, will be presented in November. However, now representatives of the company are starting to talk about some of the chips of the crossover.
One of the main features is the presence of special lasers and sensors. The car will receive eight cameras, five radars, 16 ultrasonic sensors, and an advanced lidar sensor on the vehicle’s roof to track external obstacles.
Several of these sensors will be located in the cabin and monitor the driver’s condition. They will observe how attentive the driver is to the road and whether he is distracted. If the driver stares at one point on the road without stopping, the system will also not like it, and the car will give a signal.
If the driver does not react to the system’s warnings, the car will begin to slow down until it comes to a complete stop.
However, all Volvo EX90 security systems are interesting for another factor: the car understands if the driver is drunk. There are no details about how the system works. She will probably show up closer to or during the presentation.
Creating such sensors is another step toward supporting the concept of the safest car in the world. One of them was the maximum speed limit of 180 km/h.
The presentation of the Volvo EX90 will take place on 9 November.
